Southaven Park, Shirley, Long Island

Some claim the area to be East Yaphank, but the squishy-soft pine needle crunching underfoot is land within Shirley. With all the bad media reports about Shirley and the Mastics, never does the printing exploit the natural elements the tri-hamlet has laid out for the inhabitants. The negative stigma leaves the woods virtually souless and empty to enjoy the Carmens River shoreline in solitude. Within the confines of the dark forest is a grove of large pine trees that reminds me of the speeder-bike scene in Return of the Jedi. Walking through the giants light plays tricks around me.
